Project Overview

This remodel involved a comprehensive transformation of a 1977 master suite in Morrison, designed to dramatically improve functionality, comfort, and everyday livability. The homeowners wanted to turn an undersized primary bathroom into a true ensuite retreat while optimizing storage and circulation throughout the second floor.

To accomplish this, we expanded the primary bathroom by repurposing the adjacent guest bedroom, allowing for a more spacious and thoughtfully designed layout that better suits mountain living.

Expanded Ensuite & Closet Redesign

The primary closet was relocated and expanded from just 25 square feet to 71 square feet, creating a highly functional storage solution. Custom-built shelving was designed to accommodate shoes, clothing, and bags, while an integrated dresser eliminated the need for additional bedroom furniture and supported a clean, minimalist bedroom aesthetic.

Improved Laundry Functionality

To streamline daily routines, the washer and dryer were moved from the main floor to the second floor, providing direct and convenient access from the primary suite. The new laundry area includes:

• A custom countertop for folding clothes
• Two wall cabinets for cleaning supplies
• A hanging rod for air-drying garments

This relocation significantly improved functionality while keeping laundry tasks discreet and efficient.

Bathroom Layout & Material Upgrades

A new water closet was introduced to enhance privacy, requiring a four-foot relocation of the toilet to optimize spacing. The bathroom now features marble tile flooring paired with an in-floor heating system—an essential comfort upgrade for Colorado’s mountain climate.

A freestanding tub was positioned near the window to take full advantage of surrounding views, creating a serene soaking experience. The custom shower features contemporary vertical stacked tile, offering both generous space and a modern, refined look.

Custom cherry cabinetry from Dura Supreme anchors the vanity area, providing ample storage and warmth. A nearby linen cabinet adds additional organization while maintaining visual balance.

The Finished Space

This remodel transforms the home with a seamless blend of contemporary elegance and practical design. By rethinking the layout and incorporating thoughtful storage, comfort-focused upgrades, and durable materials, the primary suite now functions as a true retreat—well suited for both everyday living and the unique demands of a mountain home.
